Origen Xbox 360

So. For about the past month, I've been anxious about something. Something supposed to be great and magnificent. It all started on www.origenxbox360.net. This was a site hosted by Microsoft, and it had to do with the upcoming launch of the Xbox 360. On this site, there is a Bonzai tree, coming out of a hole. There was a green bunny made out of cardboard or something. And in the background, there was a countdown timer. So, what was the timer for?

Crazy, psycho people who never leave their computers poured over what this site could mean. Is the Xbox 360 going to come out early, when the countdown ends? Is it going to launch in Japan first, because there is a Bonzai tree. As the days went by, a pair of fruit would pop up on the tree. And along with that, the rabbit would move. Sometimes closer to the tree and the hole, sometimes farther away.

Well, one one of these fruits, there was a piece missing out of the side. And some person realized that it was in the shape of the little MSN messenger guy. And it really did look like that was right. So, was Xbox 360 going to be connected through messenger somehow? And, the rumor of the fruit being apples, meaning would the Ipod be able to hook up to an Xbox 360? Well, in a little demonstration of the Xbox 360, the gaming community already found out that yes, the Ipod can in fact hook up to the Xbox 360.

And then, another bunny appeared on the page. This one was smaller, but looked just like the larger bunny. So, what was going on? What does everything mean? Everybody just had to wait for the countdown. But, one of the biggest questions: Is Microsoft going to release information about the Xbox 360 that would blow the gaming community out of the water?

So, gamers and those interested wait. And they wait. And they wait. Then finally, the countdown timer ended. Today. So, what was it for? Why did Microsoft have everybody wait for over a month as to what the site meant? Well, it is a contest. And very disappointed Americans do not, and will not (for those that haven't learned yet), get to participate in the contest. It is for Europe only. Bummer, huh?

So, the contest is to pick two people from Europe to go to some Xbox 360 thing in America sometime in November before the console comes out. That's it. Only two people. Only two European people. That really bites for us Americans, who will probably be buying the most consoles out of the three places the console will get shipped. I guess that the original Xbox did well enough in the US, that Microsoft is fearless that the Xbox 360 will do well in America once again. But, there was Japan. Japan hated the Xbox. So, what did Microsoft do? They made it so Japanese would like it bettter. And last week at the Tokyo Game Show, it worked. Xbox 360 popularity in Japan went from around 2% to 22%. And that may still be rising as word spreads from gamer to gamer over there in Japan. So, Japan seems about won over. How about Europe. Well, Europe was probably a decent buyer of the Xbox, but Microsoft seems that they want global domination with this new console.

So, as the powerhouse of America, which was been selling much better than PS2 since the release of Halo 2, wants to spread to other countries, like the home of Sony (Japan), to try and Monopolize on the console industry. Great job Microsoft. Keep it up. Us hardcore Xbox fans are with you all the way. But us Americans are a little bummed, actually quite mad, that we do not get to participate in an event such as OrigenXbox360.
